How to Implementing VR in The Classroom #6: Praktik Baik Roni Yulianto, S.Pd., M.Kom., SMK Negeri 1 Kepahiang, Bengkulu

This time, the series "How to Implement VR in the Classroom" has reached the 6th episode about the journey of Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., and M. Kom. from SMK Negeri 1 Kepahiang, Bengkulu. As a vice principal, Roni Yulianto, S.P.D., M.Kom., always tries to prioritize his competence with fellow educators around him regarding implementing virtual reality (VR) technology in the classroom. Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., M. Kom., said, "The first time I got to know VR technology for learning was when IGI (Ikatan Guru Indonesia) together with MilleaLab held webinars and training related to the implementation of VR in education."


In addition, Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., M. Kom. admitted that SMKN 1 Kepahiang fully supports the initiation of VR learning by providing 12 VR glasses. "I am interested in applying VR in classroom learning. Thank God I have implemented it and fellow educators at school are also interested in learning about this VR MilleaLab," said Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., M. Kom. In the context of spreading the good impact of VR learning that brings interest among educators, Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., and M. Kom. also routinely upload various good practices they implement on social media. This implementation has received a good response from many parties, including SLCC PGRI, who invited him to share VR learning materials.


"Students majoring in Teknik Komputer Jaringan (Network Computer Engineering) become more curious when using VR during learning. Yes, I usually spend one to two weeks making one VR learning content," said Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., M. Kom. By teaching VR in the TKJ department for one full day a week, Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., M. Kom. said that the biggest challenge he faced was his competence in making VR learning content that still needed to be improved. "I had introduced VR technology in learning such as MilleaLab to the Head of the Bengkulu Regency Education Office, and he welcomed this for the sake of educators' competence in the field of qualified VR technology," said Roni Yulianto, S. Pd. M. Kom.


Moreover, the remarks from the Head of the Bengkulu Regency Education Office directly guided Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., and M. Kom. to socialize about the good practices of VR implementation in the world of education to schools in the regions. "I focus on the training after training related to VR content creation that I have to follow. Thus, the development of my competence in the field of VR education will be increasingly honed and impactful," said Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., M. Kom. In the end, the title of Bengkulu Province Technology Ambassador 2021 is also one of his motivations to continue to adapt to the development of technological sophistication.


"I was the Bengkulu Provincial Technology Ambassador in 2021, and it became a challenge that I had to complete. Later, when educators ask me about the implementation of VR, I can provide satisfactory answers," said Roni Yulianto, S. Pd., M. Kom. When education is required to create learning that leads to the development of immersive technologies such as VR, MilleaLab directly moves educators to share good practices.
